Step Forward is an integrated group for people with and without learning difficulties to work together to create, rehearse and perform. Step Forward is a performance group and therefore a suitable level of commitment and team work is expected to achieve this.

Drop in Creative dance sessions for adults with learning difficulties.  These sessions are inclusive and carers are encouraged to participate in the session. Dancers should wear soft indoor shoes or bare feet and comfortable clothing.

Multi-sensory dance classes for young people with additional support needs.  Children should be accompanied by a parent, carer or sibling, who can join in to support their youngster.  Please contact Citymoves to book a place and to discuss any access needs.

Exercise Class – Strength and Balance

The class develops strength, improves balance and builds confidence in those who attend.  The exercises are performed either sitting or standing.  Resistance bands, balls and ankle weights are used when appropriate.  The class is designed to be progressive as the weeks go by so strength and balance improves and different exercises may be used to challenge further, while allowing people to work at their own pace.

Conditioned touch, tag or contact rugby for children, young people and adults with a range of additional needs. The project addresses participation where access to fully inclusive rugby activity in schools or in the community is difficult, or precluded due to the nature of individual challenges. The project is intended to bridge some participants into inclusive rugby wherever possible, and to establish this activity as a normal part of the clubs offer to the communities of Huntly and surrounding areas.

This is a pilot in the first instance funded through Aberdeenshire Council and the Dummuis wind farm community fund.
